I painted the liberation of the Ghetto under Napoleon as a really happy event. You can see how the wooden gates were demolished and burned in the middle of the New Ghetto. The major of the city is holding his speech in the foreground. You can see also the priests from the neighbouring churches dancing with the rabbis. The president of the Jewish community is addressing the people from one of the walls , music bands are playing, a tree of liberty is erected . The people are dancing and full of joy
