The Book of Esther (Megillat Esther) tells the story of how the Jewish people in ancient Persian Empire were saved from destruction.

Set in the court of King Ahasuerus, the story follows Esther, a young Jewish woman who becomes queen, and her cousin Mordecai. When the king’s advisor Haman plots to annihilate the Jews, Esther risks her life by revealing her identity and appealing to the king.
