Parasha of the Week Chukat n.40

G-d instructs Moses and Aaron regarding the red heifer; Miriam dies; Moses hits a rock to bring forth water rather than speaking to it; Aaron dies. G-d said to Moses and Aaron “Speak to the sons of Israel and find a completely red cow on which there is no blemish and no yoke has ever come. You shall give it to Eleazar, the priest, and he shall take it outside the camp and slaughter it. This cow shall then be made into an offering and those that participate in the sacrifice shall be unclean until the evening. Remember this everlasting statute.”

Il Signore fornisce istruzioni a Moshè e Aaron per quanto riguarda la giovenca rossa; Miriam muore; Moshè, in cerca di acqua per il suo popolo, colpisce una roccia affinché ne scaturisca acqua invece di parlarle; Aaron muore. Il Signore aveva detto a Moshè e ad Aaron: «Parlate ai figli d’Israele e trovate una mucca completamente rossa, senza macchia e ancora non sottoposta ad alcun giogo. Dovreste consegnarla al sacerdote Eleazar, che la porterà fuori dall’accampamento e la macellerà. Questa mucca sarà poi offerta in sacrificio e coloro che parteciperanno al sacrificio saranno impuri fino alla sera. Ricordate questa legge eterna».
